College Names Wooden Signs
Objective:
Students will be able to…
I can design a wooden sign that has the name of my favorite college on it. I will research the college so I can paint the sign with corresponding colors. I will experiment by designing the sign on paper first. Once the weather gets warmer I will help install the college outside on a directional pole.

How shapes were turned into symbols.
West African Adinkra Symbols to Hearts and Peace Signs
Objective:
I can create basic shapes by drawing using lines as the outside contour or perimeter. I learn how to create patterns by putting these shapes together. I will use a variety of shapes to create a detailed design. My creation will use the whole piece of paper in a balanced composition. I will learn the how shapes became symbols and how they were used for communication in West Africa.

Objective:
Students will be able to…
I can use only lines to create drawings of fishes, faces, and other objects.
I will use a variety of lines to create a detailed drawing by creating textures and patterns. My drawing will use the whole piece of paper in a balanced composition. Students will create contour drawings of animals with using only one line. Students will be a short quiz to assess the students on what they retained form last year and to judge for to proceed with my instruction.

Some students will be asked to desribe how they created project.
Students will then clean up and put all materails away.
Students will join in a discussion and review of their fellow classmates creations.
